Leader of the Month- September

Today we had a leader from our community visit SNES. Pastor Ivey from Christ Alive Church in Newton came to talk to Kindergartners about being proactive. He taught us some very valuable lessons. Pastor Ivey taught us that we cannot blame others for our wrong actions. We also learned how important it is to do the right thing when nobody is watching. Our classroom mission statement says we will always do our very very best. We will strive each day to Be Proactive and stay in charge of ourselves! We will do the right thing when nobody is watching. We are the leaders of our own lives!

Week 3!

What a wonderful week!! We are focusing on Habit 1: Be Proactive. This week, we have acted out many different situations that we might encounter in our lives. The kids LOVE this activity! We first handle the situation like a REACTIVE Kindergartner would. (This is our favorite thing to act out!!) We then correct our habits and handle the situation like a PROACTIVE Kindergartner.

Scenarios-Someone sits in your spot
                    Someone passes you in line
Someone takes a toy you were playing with
                etc.

With your child, brainstorm some scenarios that occur frequently in your home. Act out or talk about these scenarios. How would you handle the scenario with Reactive & Proactive behaviors? Let them blow your minds with their suggestions & performances!!

Here are some snapshots from our week!
